On Griegos just east of Rio Grande Blvd.always has a great selection of trees from Mora.

Got mine last year on December 26th from Hobby Lobby. Pull it out of the box....and plug it in! Then we get a couple of natural wreaths from Costco for $10 each for the "smell"...and I am happy.

If we were to go out and get a "fresh" tree....this seems like it might be neat to do. Lincoln National Forest sells permits for you to go out and chop down your own tree

Ive spent a few years extra grinchy, but with an ex-girlfriends we useto do our tree shopping at the Flee market, sounds strange but its a nice space with 10-15 different tree vendors. so you can find the tree you want at a good price.

Years ago we also did the wild goose chase looking for the "perfect" tree. Then we discovered Delancey Street and have been going there ever since. Good prices. great trees and nice people.

One place. The Flea Market. Last year we drove to the Manzanos and paid 10 bucks for a 16 foot Douglas Fir. This year the Manzanos were closed due to recent fire. Reluctantly the family went to the Flea Market on Sunday. The first 16 foot tree we looked at was a beutiful full, perfectly triangular, stately spruce, but the dude wanted $75. (I know this is half what any other place would charge, though). There were at least 3 other independent vendors, and the next one we approached had the SPITTING IMAGE of the tree we cut down last year, and she only wanted $25 for all 15+ feet of it! And they secure it to the roof for you, too!

I highly recommend the Flea Market.

After many years with just a fiber optic mini-tree, I went for a potted Norfolk pine this year (picked up at Lowes). They make good year-round house plants and the cats haven't shown any interest in nibbling on it. It's a nice alternative to fake trees or chopped trees.

EFP, you're wrong, baby, wrong. There have been several discussions about which is greener, a real tree or an artificial tree and the real tree wins out. The tree farms are beneficial--don't forget that trees clean our air. Also, once finished with a real tree, one can compost it and return something to the earth. Artificial trees are all chemical, which have a far worse impact on the planet. I wish I had a link for you, but if you use the Google, you'll find the articles I am talking about.

However, I have the greenest "tree" possible--a metal ornament tree. I then get greens and put them around the house for the smell and the green. Go metal!

For many years I've been getting my tree at the Delancey Street lot at Winrock Mall. Haven't even bothered looking anywhere else because I know I'll like what I get from them. I've always found their trees to be lovely and fresh and the people are friendly.

Just got this year's tree from them a few days ago and am now knee deep in decorating it. :-)

Growing up, my parents would buy trees that still had the roots. After the holidays we would plant the trees in the yard. There is one that is taller than their 2-story house now! I wish I could find more vendors selling the trees with roots. I hate that so many trees are cut down. It is not sustainable and gross.

My mom said she's seen the trees with roots in Belen. I'm going to take my truck to Belen this weekend and hopefully in January I will have a new tree in my 'Burque yard.
