Pressing Sushi-Related Tipping Question

Just curious if anyone can offer some enlightenment on appropriate sushi restaurant tipping? When out at sushi tonight we were trying to decide if we should tip the sushi chefs separately from the server? It hard to know if servers and sushi chefs share tips, especially when the chefs have a big ol' tip bucket on the top of the sushi bar.

Any thoughts on protocol? Any sushi chefs or servers out there that want to weigh in on this general or how it works at your restaurant?

I like to think that not dunking their creation in Soy Sauce is tip enough! (hoping my wife reads this post... damn soy sauce dunker... no respect I tell ya, no respect!)

Hey now, Dunking in SOY SAUCE makes the sushi better!!

As for the tipping - I usually tip the server and chefs seperately. This way, they both know how much I think of their service (and I have gotten some pretty lousy service but great sushi at some of the sushi bars here...).
