Life, food, events, and community in Albuquerque, NM

I have recently learned that I am on the very short guest list for my ex-boyfriend’s wedding. Woo. Aren’t we healthy and happy?

Regardless of whether or not I’m planning on attending the event I need a present that says, “I’m happy for you.” I also feel obligated to purchase a present because if I don’t, I look about as bitter as Scarlett O’Hara on the wedding day of Ashley Wilkes.

The reality is that I am happy for them, but I don’t feel the need to spend tons of money, but I want to be creative. They aren’t the wedding registry type of people and I don’t want to get them the obligatory Target gift card.
I want to give them something unique. They don’t live here anymore, but love the state. I’d like to get them something reflective of Albuquerque, but can’t get them a gift certificate to somewhere local since cashing it in might be a problem.

Anyone have any great present ideas that I can give?

Nambe. Seriously. It's the right combo of lovely and impersonal. Unless you know that the person loves Nambe, and then it's super-personal. Regardless, you can probably get something for under $50 from American Home or one of the Nambe stores (look for sale stuff!) and because it comes in the blue box you come off as super-guest.

Santa Fe Sunset Bowl

Good luck!

You should post this in the forum, too, under General Discussion

Nambe's a fantastic idea. I would also consider giving a wedding vase/jar from one of the pueblos... they have a great, reasonably priced selection at Palms Trading and the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center. Here's what they look like:

Good luck, and how evolved of you. :-)

I'll have to say that my standard wedding present is Nambe. It's classic, elegant, and from NM!

Thanks for the great suggestions! After visiting the site, I'm convinced I need Nambe in my house- especially the Tri-Corner bowl. They may be more the pueblo type as Shawne suggested. I'll have to give it more thought.
