I've read all the blogs, all the forums, everything. Every website or tour book that mentions Albuquerque, I've read.
I've visited the city, gone to open houses, fallen in love with sopapillas, and figured out, finally, which way Juan Tabo runs.
I've looked at all the neighborhoods everyone has warned us against (but where I like the houses), checked the crime stats, driven out there at night, and haven almost convinced myself that I'm an expert and the people who actually live in Albuquerque can't possibly know what they're talking about. Dangerous and foolish, but there it is.
I've applied for jobs. I've gotten my references. I've put my apartment here on the market. I've done everything I could possibly do at this point.
Now I just have to wait. This is really the worst part about making this decision, to move from NYC to Albuquerque. The waiting is intolerable. We did all the checking out, everything to this point was active. Now, it's wait for the apartment to sell. Wait for APS to give me a call. Wait for the school year here to end.
At least the Salvation Army is benefiting from this. As I've got nothing else to do, I've been going through my clothes and anything that hasn't been worn in a year goes into the donation bag. So far I've filled 3 yard sized trash bags.
I want it to be July, and in the car, with everything already packed and on its way. Meanwhile, I will not so patiently wait for this all to fall into place. . .
