Does anyone have any recommendations for a professional tree pruning company?

We have about 4 of Mr Tingley's Elms, ranging from 60-80 feet high.... A couple of them have broken branches way up there in the sky.

Any idea of what the costs would be?

This is the guy both my neighbor and I use to prune our trees, one of which is a giant elm as tall as yours. Not sure of the cost, but it's certainly reasonable.

Just a follow up. Thanks very much. We got Paul Chandler on the job. Beautiful professional job. The trees look great and he charged appropriately.
Thanks Y'All

not the best season to cut out anything but really dead deadwood. best best is to have them pruned back in winter.

pruning is more than just shaping the tree and removing deadwood, it makes the tree grow fresh new growth, which convinces it it is still young.

im no expert, but i believe a good tree trimmer can tell on site dead form not, and the other trick is trim out at the next branch collar if the wood inside is still green then leave it there to branch out more, and if its is dry dead wood trim it back just past another fork closer to the trunk.

How do you handle 30' and taller trees? My ladder is 20' and the russian olive on the corner of my property has some deadwood at above 30'.

2 x 20ft ladders and some duct tape?

You know, I'd probably try that if my wife would let me. I have a long history of wiley coyote moments.

Its actually good for the tree to be cut back a little bit into the live wood from time to time, it encourages youthful growth.

As for telling live from dead, during the fall months you can go up with spraypaint and mark the dead and dying branches. or a technique a fruit tree expert i know does is he gets colorful plastic wire ties, and outs one on whichever dead or badly producing branches. and he can then go through in winter and lop them back.

for spraypainting up high check out the sharky painter

Juan Hernandez has a tree care company. He's located S. of the University, phone is 262-4958.

I second Juan. He just took out a dead apricot tree trunk, a failing cedar tree, a sycamore, and a pyracantha. And the trimming job he did on an over grown 50 year old Mulberry tree in the backyard...very nice job.

I've had good luck with Stephen Bell with Painted Sunset Arborculture. I've recommended him to a coworker and she was very pleased with him as well.

I use Paul Chandler, too. (See the link in Chantal's first post). He pruned three of my big old elms and did a lovely job with them at a reasonable price. He's done work for my mother as well.
