Is that my last meal in life, or last meal in New Mexico? For the latter it's a tossup between Loyola's special and Garcia's breakfast burrito. For the former, I'd have my wife stir fry something involving basil, chicken, and rice noodles (Though if you're going to be strict about it coming from a restaurant, probably the weekend buffet at India Palace).
The Banana leaf wrapped Tamale, filled with Mesa, Potato, Olives and chicken from Pupuseria Y Restaurante Salvadoreño on 1701 Bridge, S.W. Or the Seafood stew there, red, creamy and rich...mmmmm... or the Loroco Pupusa...Its so different from the NM Tamale
We have been going there for several years now. We got a taste for Pupusa from the Central Market in Downtown Los Angeles.
A torpedo with red at Duran's
Lotaburger
Anything from the taqueria at Lomas and Edith
Meatloaf sandwich from Hannah and Nate's Place
Pizza from Golden Crown Panederia on Mountain
Sweetroll from the Frontier
I would endure the 3.5 hour drive down to Mesilla, near Las Cruces, and go to Chopes. I'd order a michelada, a side of their queso, enchiladas smothered with red and queso and beans and rice. And yes, I'd eat every single morsel.
I LOVE Albuquerque food, but there's no comparison when it comes to Chopes.
My final death row meal from an ABQ establishment would probably have to be the red chile enchiladas at the Duran's Central Pharmacy or the tacos desebrada from Los Compadres...but then I'd also have to petition for a Vietnamese pork sandwich to-go from Lee's Bakery.
MMm since it appears we could drive out of town for the last meal, theres a place in Demming called Si Senor, they do a smothered milanesa to die for :)
