I'm looking for more places to go in the middle of the night. Denny's, IHOP, Waffle House, and Harold's Laundry are the only places I know of that are open 24 hours at moment (Frontier keeps switching). Is there any place I'm missing? I know Lindy's is open until the early morning on the weekends, other places that are just open quite late would be good too. Bonus points for suggestions that allow minors (I'm 20) and places with food other than pancakes.
Denny's is supposed to be jazzing up their overnight menu, playing alternative rock music from like 11pm-5am, having some bands develop items to be served on the overnight menu, and is just in general is changing the vibe of the restaurant in the overnight hours (I guess so the party doesn't stop all night).
Denny's may be changing the atmosphere/menu/vibe too much to be welcoming to older adults (such as factory workers who may visit for their "lunch" and can't stand that and go seek out a 24/7 Mcdonalds or whatever, so Dennys is taking a risk.
Cesar's is a gem (Lomas/San Mateo). Grab a gyros or an enchilada plate, and flush your system with a giant horchata. Yum! I wish I could go in and sit down, but after midnight, it's drive-through only. In the more ho-hum world, there's also late-night sit-down at the Village Inn on Menaul just east of University, and late-night drive-through at the Whataburger @ 2nd & Menaul.
This town sucks for late night eats. Everyone knows it. Over-processed/fast food places dont count in my book. Yuck.
Lindy's is the only one I can really stand- there needs to be more! Downtown! Most of these places everyone is mentioning is way out there in the war zone- no one wants to go out there past 10pm. Yikes.
I've given Lindy's sooo many chances . . . the service is consistently the worst in town (though the guy is friendly and cheerful), and they've screwed up the order like six times in a row.
An alternative: hit one of the places that serve good grub 'til midnight, like the Zinc cellar.
That dude is really nice. I've never had a problem with service or my orders... but then again I usually go after many a beer at anodyne so, I probably never noticed?
I've been all over this town after 10, and yeah, the war zone is covered in cops and creepies. There's some fun stuff out there for sure- The Ranch/Sidewinders, Blue Jeans on thursday nights.... but I wouldnt be caught dead out there in the middle of the night. While there's crime all over ABQ, check out this map and see where its the most condensed- its in the exact spot locals told me was called the war zone: http://www.abqjournal.com/crime/crimemapweekdefault.htm
Just curious- why are you defensive over the war zone?
A lot of them are chains- most of which are in the war zone as well- or closest to downtown, where all the drunkards want to get late-nigh bites at 3am.
Why not a diner- omg The Standard should be open 24 hours. Oh man. Best late-night mean ever!
I thought I heard that Milton's on Central just a couple of blocks west of I-25 was a 24 hr. establishment. Perhaps I misheard, but the food is tasty, and I do think their hours are pretty late/early if they're not a 24-7 joint.
