Anybody know where a good set of stairs is for a workout? Maybe a set of stairs in a public area, park or building where they don't mind joggers? I've been using the stairs at the movie theater parking lot downtown in the evenings when there's not much pedestrian traffic, but I'm looking for a place where I won't get hassled by a security guard. I'm looking for a good, long set....but can't think of anyplace.

I've been interested in the same thing, but it seems if you want to keep going up for as long as possible without going down, you'd have to be downtown. And I live far from downtown.

Maurits Escher found the solution to the up/down problem, Robyn... This is a LEGO rendition of one of his "impossible stairs".

Hispanic Cultural Center has some neat stairs. There's also a cool flood barrier off Juan Tabo north of Montgomery that you could run up and down. Really though, why not just head up into the foothills? There's plenty of paths that have a similar incline to stairs and you'll hit more of your stabilizing muscles since the surface is uneven.

ayax, that would be perfect if I were only 5'3" shorter! And could defy gravity.

Got any connections to anyone that works at the Pit? Those are the best stairs! I know, our basketball seats are three rows from the floor.

I actually used to run up the flood barrier at the park a the top of Menaul past Tramway. It is only about four stories though and there is a basketball court at the bottom of it.

Thanks for the replies. The stairs at Civic Plaza don't go high enough. I'll try to foothills soon..good suggestion...and I totally forgot about the Hispanic Cultural Center....nice one.

High enough where I don't have to run back down often just to go up again....I was thinking maybe a stadium around town may be good too....like milne maybe?

Best "stairs" in Albuquerque are those mountains to the east. Suggest you try Pino trail to start - 4.7 miles to the top of the ridge, and if you're still feeling good you can go on over to the tram and ride it down if you like.
