Animal Control found Rocky bleeding and shivering – chained in a filthy yard, without shelter, food, or water. The “owner” was arrested and (deservedly) charged with animal cruelty. Due to the charge, Rocky was taken into protective custody. Without the charge, Rocky would have been immediately euthanized. He was literally dying of neglect.
Rocky remained in protective custody for 3 months. He overcame serious respiratory and intestinal illnesses. When “policy” dictated Rocky should be euthanized, the staff called us – and we were greeted by faces full of kisses! That was it – Rocky found his second chance.
Now we need your help. If Rocky doesn’t find his forever human within a week, he’ll live the rest of his life at a sanctuary, never knowing what it's like to lie at the feet of his best friend, or curl up on a couch...
Rocky is about 7 years old and would do best as an only dog, at least at first. He is super sweet with people. Because of his horrid past, Rocky needs a strong, experienced, loyal human – someone who can provide assertive leadership, thrive on the dedication of a strong-hearted K-9 survivor, and commit to his rehabilitation. We have a rehabilitation program that will be perfect for Rocky and his new human.
