Life, food, events, and community in Albuquerque, NM

Hello folks,

I just moved here from a string of locations both north and east from here, and keep hearing that tinting my windows is the only way to keep my car from cooking me.

So does anyone know of a good place to tint? Anywhere NOT to go? I don't want blisters in my tints!

Anywhere super cost effective? I have a 99 Forester, with a total of 7 windows to tint.. ouch..

I just had my wife's 03 Forrester done by Albuquerque Auto Glass, on 4th, just North of Candelaria. it was around $200 (I think cash price was a small break). They did a very good job. Tell 'em the guy with the White Subaru Wagon sent you, maybe I'll get a deal when i finally bring my Tacoma in there...

Be careful if you plan on going to other states-- I think NM can be darker than other places, but if you get pulled over in California, they can peel 'em while you watch in horror...

Or at least enforcement here is VERY lax... I think I asked to go darker (esp. in the back where my dog and her tongue hangs out and they were "cool" with it.

Yeah, I would be aware of the tinting law/ordinance here, because it sets a standard "darkest tint" level (I can't remember the exact number)--it is rarely enforced, but it would be a pain to have to re-do it. Good luck!

I had all the window's in my Honda CRV done in Los Lunas at Shades of Tint 866-0159,45041-50 They did a great job. Had it done 2 years ago, still perfect. I dont remember the price, but I do remember I checked around, and they were much cheaper than anyone in Abq

I will say that I'm now driving my first-ever tinted auto and I LOVE it. But I bought it used, so I have no idea who did it. Tint on!

I think NM requires at least 20% of light in. Here's a link to TintLaws. My current vehicle has tint on the back and rear sides and it's great. I'm going to have to get the new vehicle I have coming in tinted. Let us know if you try one of the shops people have recommended! I'd also like to find someone who could do a reflective pinstripe.

Tint Masters on Carlisle. They guarantee all their work. They have been in Albuquerque for a long time. Be careful of cost effective, remember you get what you pay for.

I don't know how far you are willing to travel to get them tinted but I got a good deal at D&B Glass in Belen. I also know a guy who does a great job but he is in Socorro. Let me know and I can give you the contact info.
