Duke City Fix

Life, food, events, and community in Albuquerque, NM

I found this little guy walking along the sidewalk. My dog wanted to eat him but otherwise he's ok. Very people friendly. He's currently munching on seeds in our guest room.

Serendipity itself! Although I'm sure if your dog would've succeeded in his endeavor, that would have negated or even reversed the flow of karma that is about to come your way.

It must be the day for found birds. I was just at the vet's and a city worker brought in a young peregrine falcon he found in the Cottonwood Mall parking lot. Preliminary examination by people who aren't vets concluded that the falcon's wings were broken.

Hope they get the falcon to Hawks Aloft, Inc.

Yes. The bird vet was called in and the office personnel said that he works with Hawks Aloft when raptors are involved.

That's one smart parakeet, hes upgraded from a cage to a guest room, woohoo!

Yeah, he's actually a pretty cool little guy. I posted on Craigslist, and few people have offered to adopt him, but no one has stepped forward as the owner yet.

I'm going to post a few fliers around and probably one up at Sunflower. Hopefully that will do it.

Try posting one at Clark's.

Yup. I need to do that tomorrow AM. Thanks :)

Still no takers today. It seems all he does is eat (so those pics are a pretty good account of his day)... do parakeets know when to stop? or will they eat 'til they burst?

So, maybe that's why people say, I eat like a bird, but I still gain weight?

he better treat it good, or it might sing like a canary?

Be careful. When ever I am trying to find the owner of a lost pet, I make sure I hold back one bit of information that only the real owner would know. Its fairly easy with cats and dogs, but with a parakeet not sure what that would be. Also be careful if you dont find the owner and are looking for a home for it. There are strange folks out there in the big bad world looking for animals for some pretty strange reasons. Or they just want if on a whim, as in wouldnt it be "fun" to own a bird, with ability to care for it.
