To a certain extent - It's like any other place - it's what you make of it. I got very tired, very quickly of the "you can't do that in Albuquerque" (or NM) whine when I moved here 7 years ago. My solution? I stopped hanging out with the whiners. We've come a long way and have great prospects!

P.S. Red & T - let me know your contact info when you get here - always good to know more creative types for my clients. Welcome back!

This is good news and I think it's accurate. I'm willing to bet my future on ABQ. And I'll get a chance to back up my words with action sooner than expected. My timeframe to move has shrunk from 27 months to 7 over the last week. I can't wait!

But, shhrrrrrr. Don't tell anyone that we are the best!!!!

CB - you bet! I won't say a word. In fact, I'll encourage all of my fellow Californians to stay where it's safe....in the earthquake zone we call the Golden state...ha ha.

You know, nothing like a health scare to push you closer to ABQ. My wife had a major one this week that ended up with the better option. But, the job is killing her. The stress is getting to me. That with the current economy out here is the last sign we need to move earlier than planned.

My grandmother passed away in May and her house is available to us. How can we turn down being 2 miles from the UNM sports complex? A mile from Nob Hill? To us, centrally located near everything else we love in town? Nope, the time has come. We'll be out in April.

She's quit her job and look for one in town. I'll see if I can work for my current employer remotely. If not, oh well, and I'll be looking for work. I've spoken to the cat and she's okay with having an entirely new house to explore.

Thank god we didn't give into peer pressure, years ago, about buying a house vs renting. I would be upside down in a mortgage and needing to sell immediately. When my lease is up in October all I have to do is renew it for another 5+ months. Whew! Dodged that bullet that has most Californian's names on it.

Joe - where does ABQ rank in sausage? Well, I thought since you were in town that we were numero uno! At least I know my local sausage man before arriving!

Doug - I certainly won't tell you that it is good news that your grandmother passed away in May but I think it is wonderful that you are turning a health scare into a positive situation. Good for you for believing in quality of life and working to achieve that. I wish you, your wife, and your cat, the best.

CB - No offense taken. My grandmother wished we could come out sooner. We have friends and family in town that we need to take care of now (and they're probably thinking the same about us).

I'm talking to my boss at work and he admitted that the Bay Area is the most stressful place he's seen.

I know grandma has made this possible and I'm kind of honored to live in her house for a while. (My grandparents have been the only owners of the house)

Can't wait to move. We're finalizing the plans this weekend (dates, etc). What a wild situation. Two weeks ago we were on Plan A.

Doug - Good luck with getting things to work out in your favor. And a pre-welcome back home.

Where does Albuquerque rank in sausage? Well, I'm working on getting us in the top 3...gotta' go make sausages!!!

Top 3, that would be behind Chicago and Milwaukee? Which are your 1 and 2?

NYC in the mix? Boston?

Just wondering.
