I was really excited to see Barenaked Ladies was playing at Sandia Ballroom - until I went to buy tickets and they were $100-$125. I have seen them play a dozen times in other towns, and while I love the band, that just sounds crazy to me.

Anyone know what the deal is? I have never been to that venue, but does it seat only 500 people or so? You pretty much have to be a living legend or playing a ridiculously intimate show for me to pay over $100 per ticket.

It's a cosy 2500.

My guess is the price is driven entirely by the date - December 29, the closest Saturday to New Year's Eve.

are they sold out? Or is the original price 100? that's way too much.

the original price is $100 for the cheap seats, $125 for (presumably) the good seats.

again, i love barenaked ladies. one of the most fun bands to see in concert. but unless steven page is sitting on my lap for part of the show, i'm not paying that. i've been to new years eve shows that include drinks that cost less.

i'm not averse to paying money to see a show. don't get me wrong. i'm flying out to l.a. this weekend to catch a show, because the singer hasn't ever played here. there just needs to be some kind of supply/demand balance.

I bought some tix for friends this summer to see The Gipsy Kings at Sandia and they were only 45 each for really good seats, but that was the outdoor amphitheater, so I imagine the ballroom seats a lot less. But geez, $100-$125? Ticketmaster has tix right now for $75.00 each, but of course they hose you with service fees on top of that. Good luck.

New meaning for the song: "If I Had a Million Dollars" (but not a real fur coat, that's cruel)

That's WAY too high for Barenaked Ladies; have they even been putting out new albums lately? (I haven't heard anything)

...You can take the man out of Ohio, but you can't take the Ohio out of the man:
About a dozen years ago they performed a free show at a festival in the Cleveland Flats.
