Life, food, events, and community in Albuquerque, NM

Maybe this is a tired old post that has already been to the moon and back, but my recent purchase of Tractor Brewing's Sod Buster Pale Ale (it also included a free plastic "tractor-tire likened" coaster- too cool!) at the Sunflower Market on Lomas (you know the one in the heart of Nob Hill) got me wondering...

What is your favorite locally brewed beer that one is able to buy in stores?

Let's keep it to New Mexico as well. (Sorry Ska Brewing, Durango doesn't count).

I know there are a million varietals (is that the right term?) and we all have our proclivities- mine is Pale Ales and IPAs, but anything is game---I'll start us off:

Marble Brewery IPA (got a six at Jubies a few weeks back and was PSYCHED!)
Santa Fe Pale Ale (my first love-- August of 1993, on my 22nd brithday, second day in NM- had one with a burger at the Mine Shaft Tavern in Madrid...)
(Aforementioned) Tractor Brewing Sod Buster Pale Ale

Any other takers?

Can one buy it in stores?

Nope. You have to go to Kelly's on Central.

Doesn't Qualify :-) ... I like their Scotch Ale when they have it.

LOL. Totally missed the question.

Tractor Pale Ale is by a long shot.

Just go to Marble and get a growler- buying beer from the brewery is like buying the CD from the band and they get the full cut for their work.

But then I miss out on the pfffffffft of the bottle opener, and the ability to pass an icy cold brewhappening to my buds while we're watching the Red Sox game, etc.

To follow your music analogy, I personally believe it's more important to buy it in the store, as it makes it "more viable" when it's sitting on the shelf with all those other choices. And it'll "count" towards the sales numbers and the store will stock more of it, etc. etc.

Plus, I live closer to Jubilations than downtown.

Also, there's just something about a six-pack...

not sure what marble is putting the stores but love thier 11 and their cream stout.

Does anyone know if Il Vicino bottles their Wet Mountain IPA for sale in stores? (And yes, I know I can get a growler at the Tap Room, but that's not the point.)

That would give my three a run for their money...

Just tried the Oatmeal Stout from Marble brewery the other night and really loved it. Jubilation is now carrying Big Sky Brewing. I know it's not local, but their brown ale is one of my all time favorites!

OMG, the Oatmeal Stout is really really good. I second that.

I'd probably go with Monk's Ale, from Pecos, though Santa Fe Brewing Co. has some good stuff too.
