It may be a little early, but does any one know of any Day of the Dead celebrations in the area? Parades in the South Valley? Processions?

Yep that is the correct date- the parade often happens on the weekend before or after.

The National Hispanic Cultural Center is having a free family event on Oct 25 (yes Dia de Los Muertos is Nov 2 but celebrations seem to be aiming for the weekend).

The Marigold Parade is definitely worth seeing! Here are some photos from previous years:

The folks at the National Hispanic Center compile a calendar of ALL the city wide events for DDLM. Check out their web site of give them a call. www.nhccnm.org

Their events calendar doesn't mention much of anything DDLM related beyond DDLM "Family Day" on the 25th. Nor does a search of their site turn up much useful information...

Do you have an actual link to this "calendar of ALL the city wide events for DDLM"?

It looks like they took their time getting around to posting it (in that they didn't post it until after several of the events listed on the calendar had already happened), but here is a link to the NHCCNM's DDLM guide.
