I'll eat tamales any time of year, but this is the season when I buy them in bulk. What place has the best tamales in Albuquerque? And how about vegetarian tamales?
The best tamales in the word are made by Native Americans or at least the ones who make them. They use ground pork instead of shredded pork and they are more round than square. If you have any oppurtunity to taste one DO IT!!!!! At The Feast in Jemez pueblo was where I got the last tamale, sometimes they sell them on the side of the road. Once a lady came to our office and sold some to us, any type of Indian market where they sell oven bread they should sell tamales as well. Take a chance and order a tamale. YUM YUM it is definately worth it.
i used to sell sausages and ravioli @ some of the growers markets in the area, @ the Bernalillo market on friday afternoons, in the spot next to mine, a very sweet native woman and her daughter sold blue corn pork adovada tamales, very good. there was a real informative show about tamales on pbs, it was that mexico one plate @ a time dude, v. informative, maybe i'll make a tamale sausage.
