What do you think of the advertisement being placed over the windows of the buses?

Personnaly, I do not like my vision looking out the bus being obscured by the advertisements. Depending upon what color and/or design it is, the view can be very obscures especially at night. They can do what they want with the rest of the bus, but please leave the window clear. What do others think?

I actually remember that one of the first advertisement wraps introduced - the blue Allstate wraps for the 400 series buses, did not cover the windows. However, those wraps have been removed last fall.

One offset to having to ride the bus for whatever reason is to be able to see as we tool along the route and enjoy the New Mexico sunshine though normally filtered with dust, dirt, and scratches that normally occur on the windows.

I do object strongly to the limited and distorted view of the City with the vinyl appliqué signage. I want to see where I am and where I'm going.

If you want tourists to use the bus, part of the adventure is being able to see out the windows and maybe spot something you would like to visit or at least not lose your sense of equilibrium or position.

How do we find out exactly what percentage of total revenues toward operations the advertising company is paying for the privilege to use public tax payer resources? Unless it is substantial, then I say get rid of the advertising, or at lest get it off the windows.

I personally don't mind the advertisements a whole lot. The flip side to having the windows obscured is that the interior of the bus is cooler. I agree about the view, though. Seeing new things while riding is cool. There ought to be a way to make it more possible to see out while maintaining the revenue that the advertising generates.

Yes there is a way, its called "good design" and "imagination" on the part of the ad agencies in charge of the wrap ads ... it does not take much imagination to texture map a flat ad design over the bus surface with no regard for the windows.

FYI the city recieves only $160,000 for the advertisements with some extra money if/when they get a lot of the buses wrapped with paying advertisers. This doesn't even pay for one Rapid Ride bus at about $370,000 each. City contracts are public information.
