Locks of Love Salon

Hi,
I am getting ready to cut off my hair for locks of love and was wondering if anyone knew of any salons in ABQ that are participants of the program.
Thanks!

Good for you! All Aveda salons accept Locks of Love donations.

Or you could just mail it in.

I did that last winter, and was sad to hear that no local salons offer free or discounted cuts for the program. Back in the day I remember "cut-a-thons" for the program. Now, the salon will mail it for you, but you still pay full price. Also, check out Pantene's Great lengths program. The hair goes for adult women, not children, but they use more of the hair and don't sell the hair to "offset costs" like locks of love does. And... good for you for doing this!!

Lord and Lynn Salon (10900 Menaul Blvd NE, 292-1872) will cut it for you for free and then send it off to LOL. They're on Menaul in between Morris and Juan Tabo on the south side of the street kind of across from the Wild Oats.

I did it a few years back and just got it cut at Great Clips (or one of those places) and mailed it in. Pretty easy. I had gone to a salon (their name escapes me, but it wasn't the one mentioned here on Menaul) that said they would do it for free and I talked to someone on the phone and made an appointment, but when I got there, they gave me the runaround about only doing it certain days/times, couldn't do it that day, blah, blah, blah. It was weird. At the time I had gotten their name from the Lock of Love website, where they had a list of salons, but I notice that they no longer maintain a list, and just say that participating salons will have a Locks of Love sticker in their window. Good luck. It grows back so fast, by the way.

Yeah, this Lord and Lynn Salon - last time I new, which was a few months ago - has the sticker and a box right there that they place the hair that they cut in. They cut a ridiculous number of hair for Locks of Love. I donated hair years ago and went to Robertos on Rio Grande, but they're no longer participating either.

Thanks so much for all the info. I am going to be cutting it this weekend (my students want to see it short before they graduate) and will make sure to call the salons mentioned.
Thanks Again!
