Duke City Fix

Life, food, events, and community in Albuquerque, NM

When I lived here a few years ago, I had the best mechanic ever - Jim over at Sportswagon. Man, that guy was outstanding. He retired - beautiful for him, bummer for us! I've had some hideous experiences with mechanics in my short 'I'm a driver now' life and just really want someone trustworthy, efficient and skilled to take my truck to when it needs something I or my guys can't do ourselves. Any recommendations for a good mechanic who works on Toyotas? (NOT a dealer, thanks)

I've taken my truck to Toyomasters on Hawkins/Jefferson for several years, and have been very happy with their service.

Sena Automotive (Menaul and Morris area). They've fixed up my son's 1996 Corolla a few times.

There is a Toyota place on Harper NW, north of Jefferson near the Journal Center. I know a good mechanic who shares the building with them and he seems to work on a lot of Toyotas also. His name is Cliff at Affordable Automotive.

Toyomasters and Affordable Automotive share a building on Hawkins, technically east of Jefferson.

You are most certainly correct. My memory and orientation seem to be off this morning.

We like Wheel Align It on second street, they are small and funky. They have worked on all our cars and they are reasonable and honest

my two cents: for more than 20 years, my family has always taken our toyotas, nissans, and hondas to jeff at jeff's gasoline alley (on tennessee, a block north of central). he's not the cheapest place in town, but he's incredibly trustworthy and the turn around is really quick.

He seemed to be extremely competent and honest.

Ditto to Jeff's Gasoline alley. My truck got happy there yesterday, and while not too cheap (but less than some other places that do shoddy work), the 14 year old beast is purring as it should with a nicely working repaired clutch line. I was told yesterday that their Toyota mechanic has been there for 20 years and is not planning on retiring any time soon.

Let me add Etheridge Tire & Auto, too (San Pedro & Montgomery, I think). Fantastic service, super-reliable, and they have never kept my car longer than a day.
