I just got engaged and we are already looking at places to have the reception. Our first choice The Hyatt Downtown is booked the day we were thinking of. My brother had his reception there and it was really nice. Plus, the offer a lot of amenities to their wedding package. So I was wondering does anybody have any good suggestions for places?
Cory, I heard that the aquarium is a pretty cool place for wedding receptions. Also, the Embassy Suites is a good central location if you need to have it at a hotel.
Good luck and most importantly, congratulations on your engagement.
Congrats on your engagement. I work as a docent at the Rio Grande Zoo and just last year they started allowing weddings and receptions to take place. It's beautiful surroundings and the magic of animals' presence adds to it. Just call the zoo at 311 in Albuquerque or 505-768-2000 out-of-town. Good luck.
If I had my wedding to do over again (and thank God I don't - waaay too much stress) I would have it at the Hotel Albuquerque in Old Town. I have been to a couple of weddings there and they were just beautiful, and the staff seemed very competent. Plus after the reception you can go to the Q Bar for a drink :)
There's lots of Bed and Breakfasts and Wineries in the N. Valley and Corrales that are really nice... some are very pricey though. We're having ours at Inn The Village in Corrales. The pictures on the site don't do it justice but the place is pretty awesome. Two gentleman from Albuquerque recently took it over and they are offering some pretty amazing rates to get some word of mouth business. They offer the entire facility with all the rooms for Friday, Saturday as well as breakfast on Sunday morning and that of course includes the grounds for the reception.
Don't know how big you're looking at but their limit is about 120-140 people. They're former event planners so they can help out with a lot of the planning.
I would actually suggest the Sheraton Uptown if you're looking for a hotel. The event staff is AMAZING, and they are very very committed. I planned (and executed) an event there a couple years ago, and it was all I could have hoped for and more. Congratulations and best wishes!
I too am at the tail end of planning my ABQ wedding (the big day is next month!), and like it's been stated before it really all depends on budget. Hispanic Cultural Center is nice, but you are limited with your catering options and will need to get a special temporary liquor license. There are also no hotels nearby.
We'll be having our reception at Season's Rotisserie and Grill, and I have been very happy with everything so far. Here are my main reasons: 1) Many menu choices and service options. I especially like the fact that our guests will be able to choose their main entree at the reception (like a normal restaurant) off a custom printed menu made especially for us (they are even printing it on special paper we picked out). Of course, you can always save a little more money and serve dinner buffet style; 2) The private rooms at Seasons can accommodate groups up to about 110-115 people. The rooms are very nicely decorated and the built in bar is very posh; 3) They are very flexible with liquor options, they can work it just about any way you want it; 4) NO ROOM RENTAL CHARGE, just spend the set minimum (very low) for the rooms in food and/or drink; 5) Right next door to Old Town and the ABQ Museum; 6) Practically connected to Hotel Albuquerque, and stumbling distance to the Best Western Rio Grande Inn, for you and your guests; 7) Ian (the manager in charge of special functions) is absolutely wonderful to work with and is incredibly knowledgeable.
These are just a few of the many reasons why we chose Seasons, but there are so many wonderful places for wedding receptions in Albuquerque. Good luck in your search, but don't slack, things book up so fast! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me thru DCF! Congrats!
