I haven't heard anything in the news or discussions about this, but I keep seeing them up there. So is it true? Is it now possible to go all the way from UNM to Cottonwood Mall on just one bus?

Yep, it has now been extended. However, starting in September, the stop will move from Cottonwood Mall to the new Northwest Transit Center.

I think there will still be a stop at cottonwood because that is a very popular place for bus riders to go. I ride the bus there all the time. I think there will still be a 790 stop and a 155 stop there just looking at how they changed the 155 route but the bus won't stay there for long. If you have been on 155 since the 16th you will notice the route has been changed so it goes around the back side of the mall. I'm guessing they did this because they want to still have a stop there but still have an easy path to the Nothwest Transit Center.

Nice! I will definitely be taking the blue line to work on tuesday then, instead of the red line to 155 route I have been taking. Now hopefully I can make it to work in less than a hour and a half like it takes now. I live by UNM, and work at Cottonwood mall, so this route change is perfect for me, and likewise for all the Rio Rancho/West Side UNM/CNM students that commute to school.

I just wonder why they haven't advertised it anywhere yet.

This is a great way to get from UNM to Cottonwood. I rode there from downtown Friday and it was great. It eliminates the long wait for 155, it usually takes 30 minutes for the 155 bus to pick you up no matter what time you arrive at the stop. As for why they haven't advertised it, I don't know.

Here's what the city has to say:

"790 Blue Line Rapid Ride
Weekdays: Route extended to the new Northwest Transit Center. The stop on Montano Plaza will be moved onto Coors Blvd. just west of Montano Plaza. There will no longer be an official Park and Ride at Montano Plaza. Frequency changed to 20 minutes (30 minutes early AM & later PM). This route will operate from Cottonwood Mall until the Northwest Transit Center opens.

Saturdays: Route extended to the new Northwest Transit Center. The stop on Montano Plaza will be moved onto Coors Blvd. just west of Montano Plaza. There will no longer be an official Park and Ride at Montano Plaza. Frequency will remain every 33-minutes. This route will operate from Cottonwood Mall until the Northwest Transit Center opens."

How far is it from Cottonwood to the new Transit Center, anyway? It looks like a little bit of a hike on Google, but not too bad...

Considering its the west side, and theres not very many well-developed sidewalks, it is a bit of a hike. I hope they keep the stop at the mall in addition to stopping at the new transit center as well, as many people seem to use the bus to get to and from the mall.
