I'm looking for more places to go in the middle of the night. Denny's, IHOP, Waffle House, and Harold's Laundry are the only places I know of that are open 24 hours at moment (Frontier keeps switching). Is there any place I'm missing? I know Lindy's is open until the early morning on the weekends, other places that are just open quite late would be good too. Bonus points for suggestions that allow minors (I'm 20) and places with food other than pancakes.
I think that McDonalds (near my house) is only open 24 hours for the drive-thru. That's what the sign says anyway. I'm not sure what time they open/close the indoor seating.
For some reason I really like Harold's laundry. Couldn't tell you why though, but I do! Yeah I'm always looking for late night spots as well, but pretty much everyone's named them. The only other one I can think of is Pita Pit, which stays open til about 2am, which isn't necessarily that late. I'm wishing for the day when an awesome 24 hrs. cafe/coffee shop opens up.
There used to be a great diner at the truck stop at Menaul and University that rivaled the Frontier for late-night eats and unique atmosphere...in fact, the owner's collection of nudie coffee mugs and the eyepatch-wearing waitress probably pushed it over the top. But it's been replaced with some kind of lame "country cookin'" franchised place that doesn't look very promising. These days you have to go pretty far out of town to find any other truck stops worthy of the name.
There is a fairly ok country kitchen out at something like 198th and the freeway combined with a TA travelcenter/truckstop , Friends of mine went out there when the smoking ban hit the county, (its over the county line). I was never a smoker so i only went for the company, the coffee was ok, and the food is good standard truckstop food. only been once recently and that was to warm up with coffee after freezing my tail off watching the meteor shower
I think that Taco Cabana is open 24 hours, that place has much better food than Frontier in my opinion. And then there is the Mexican food truck that is open on 4th street until about 4am on weekends. The Mexican food truck also has great food, but you should order in Spanish if possible.
Yeek, Taco Cabana is nasty! But to each their own. Yeah, I did the Barelas taco truck...great al pastor and an interesting atmosphere. Some car club was hanging out there the last time I stopped by, and a guy was selling tapes out of his trunk in the parking lot.
