Profile Information

Where I Live:
Bernalillo
About Me:
Born and raised in the south valley. I've left NM and come back a number of times. Now I ended up in Bernalillo, which is like the valley only more so, for better or for worse. Ex farmer, current electron herder, or electrician, if you want to be boring about it.
Favorite Thing(s) About Albuquerque:
Cliche as it is, it's landscape and views are prettier than anywhere else I've lived. And the food.
Relationship Status:
In a Relationship
What I'm Reading:
The Shadow of the Wind. I'm not sure if the internet has killed my desire to read a good book. Certainly it's taken the place of most of the non-fiction. Kind of a scary thought.
What I'm Listening To:
Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphys, The Pogues. I'm sensing an Irish punk theme in my taste. Drive By Truckers. Gogol Bordello. I just found a live album featuring Gogol Bordello and Les Claypool that is all Tom Waits covers. They even have Kirk Hammet playing on a couple tracks. Random find on the internet that made my day. The Red Elvises, who still put on a good show. That Robert Plant/Alison Krauss album Raising Sand is pretty good. Motley Crue's Shout At the Devil, which I hadn't listened to in years and yet is exactly as awesomely bad as I remember. Yonder Mountain String Band. Some Cake. Cesaria Evoria, although I have no idea how I ended up with the CD. I just put it in and was super excited by how much I liked it. Beethoven because he kicks ass. Whatever randomness comes my way.

That's for Mombat

Cool! I just saw Joe Hayes at the Fourcorners Storytelling Festival. I emceed the event but didn't get to introduce Joe Hayes and a few others. I'm a Joe Hayes Fan also. I heard him tell La Llarona for the first time. It knocked me off my seat. I swear that man can scream just like a woman. It totally took me by surprise. Last year I tutored a middle schooler who was new to the states. She and her mom had been in New Mexico for just a few months. I was totally impressed with her English. In any case, I introduced her to a couple of Joe Hayes' books and gave her one of his recordings. His use of both languages in one story was a refreshing experience for her. Her reading score shot up within a month.

Thanks for the note, San Mateo. I think many of us will come to know each other on one level or another through this network. I look forward to future connections when they happen. I wish you well. Peace.

Forget Heron Lake! You can come with me to scenic Crusty Butt, Colorado. I feel bad that I didn't offer to take you with to Sheboygan. I sense that you would have liked to go.

You could call, however we are doing cabins and I know that ours have two bedrooms and a couch. It is just me and the kids so you can take the other room if you want or camp on someone's porch or whatever your little old heart disires.
