Albuquerque Aloft at Apache Elementary

I just arrived home from a lovely morning at Apache Elementary School, one of the schools that participate in Albuquerque Aloft. Hot drinks, breakfast, and beautiful balloons - I couldn't ask for a better place to be. Enjoy the photos! Photobucket Continue

Those yellow lights and stripey lines...

Maybe you're in a hurry most days, or you just don't think about it, or you think it doesn't affect you because you don't have children. Maybe you really need to get where you're going, and there are too many of them, and it's oh so annoying to have to be slowed down this way Every. Single. Day. But I am begging you - PLEASE be more aware of school crossings around Albuquerque, especially around middle and high schools where there are no crossing guards. I have 3 children in school here; 2 at… Continue

Fire in my yard...blech

Pretty soon I may not have a house TO sell. I've been lamenting that my house is in month 4 of being on the market. To add to the bad luck? I was just awakened in the middle of the night by a doorbell ringing madly; it was a neighbor telling me someone had set a small fire in my yard. Especially given my chronic insomnia, I was not happy about my one chance at slumberly bliss being messed with (I really want to use other language here but I am trying to keep it clean). I looked over and sure e… Continue

Steve Stumped

I was just watching the KOB-tv midday newscast, and caught a little snippet on how sex gets better with age. There were some particulars given, such as women reporting more sexual satisfaction as they got older, and the men reporting slightly less, etc. The young, pretty female anchor, Marla Tellez, was giving the story, and at the end, the camera was on both Ms. Tellez and the decidedly older Steve Stucker. I have never, ever seen the guy so quiet or with such a blank expression on his face.… Continue

Another reason I love living here...

I decided to schlep the kids out to the zoo yesterday because there was a Mother's Day symphony going on. Sadly, my kids are not as into classical music so I didn't get to hear much of it (though I did get to see the child prodigy pianist - how lovely that was!), but honestly I had a great time with my children going all over the zoo. The place was more packed than I had ever seen it, so that meant we had to park several blocks away. It turned out to be a good thing, because on foot is a great w… Continue

Yeah, I think I'm good; got a slew of them from someone on Craigslist. Thanks for asking!

Robin actually I've applied for all 4 of us. For my sons actually it would be kind of a "co-insurance." So far, my application has been "lost" (I applied July 17) and I have to call today to see if my sons' application is still around.

Hi Jessica! I'm really glad you found my gallery of streetlight photos interesting. If your trained editor's eye found any egregious errors in the copy on my site, I hope you'll let me know. Take care!

Actually, I work for a KAFB contractor, part time. I have degrees in communication and in office management, but have to admit my main expertise is words. I love editing!

Are you still looking for work as a technical editor? What other types of work would you be interested in? I have been known to help a few folks get a job. I know the former contractor I worked for at Kirtland AFB has technical editor types. I don't think they have any openings now, but I would be willing to watch out for any.

Thanks for stopping by my page! I was born in Charleston, but actually lived in a little place called Big Chimney. My summers were mostly spent in Huntington, where my great aunt lived. I loved the rose gardens there - what a beautiful place!

Anyone who is West Virginian by birth is good by me. As a matter of fact my son was born in the same town I was, then we moved here one month later. All he knows about West Virginia is that it is where Nana and Pawpaw live. That and he cheers for the Mountaineers.

Ha, well, I have to admit, most of my activities revolve around my kids ;) That being said, I do enjoy the stuff like BioPark, Tingley Beach, and museums, even without my boys. If you're into racing at all - or just enjoy cool cars - I hear the Unser museum is pretty cool - my kids have gone but I haven't made it over yet.

One thing that I enjoy when I can is going to a concert at the Sandia Casino amphitheatre - it is a nice small venue and it is a great place to spend an evening.
