I write a column for the Albuquerque Journal. In October, the column began its 27th year. I'm a native of Chicago (South Side), and in 2005, I attended Game Four of the World Series. The White Sox swept the Astros. I've been trying to figure out what to do with the rest of my life ever since.
Favorite Thing(s) About Albuquerque:
It's completely surrounded by New Mexico.
Relationship Status:
Married
What I'm Reading:
"The Blind Assassin," Margaret Atwood

Jim,
Has anyone ever asked you to research the kooky red-headed lady who can be seen dancing on Tramway near Tierra del Monte and in the parking lot of Whole Foods? Who is she?
i love your column and the way you write about the good folks of this fine city! and you live in my neck of the woods, where the Roadrunner run rampant!
hi jim.
thanks for the kind words.
i'm sure you don't remember this, but i was a stringer in your department at the journal when i was a senior in high school. my mother would drive me to the journal newsroom at seventh and silver to turn in the stuff that i wrote. my journalism teacher, bryan tafoya sent me over. that was about twenty six years ago. you always did an excellent job of editing my work and giving me constructive criticism about what i was writing (stories about APS summer school , the local high school communist, et cetera). those days certainly provided a foundation, though i was a bit of a firebrand in my youth. if i am a writer, it is partially through your presence.
Politicians, casinos, and businesses may join but nothing is making me happier than seeing my favorite wordsmiths be part of something still nascent for Albuquerque.
