I'm also writing a book about contract archaeology in the SW if you ever want to pontificate on the topic.
i love info about the archaeology of the region, particularly how it relates to native/indigenous cultures. i worked at the maxwell museum of anthropology many years back assisting the return of NAGPRA related items (mainly skulls). in that case, as in many others around the world, land was purchased by private individuals who kept what they found--namely bodies that had been buried by indigenous people. i guess that was kosher 100 years ago from a legal standpoint but ethically it doesn't fly today....

A couple of hours later, I'm driving up to TJ's and I realised that I wrote Mongomery instead of Paseo del Norte in my post. I thought, well that was a stupid thing to do and hoped that a nice person would catch my mistake.
