Guerrilla Marketing with Sophie Martin and the Downtown Action Team

Yesterday I had a break in my hectic schedule, and was able to slip in to a FREE session with Sophie Martin (of Duke City Fix) on Guerrilla Marketing. This workshop was at the Hyatt downtown (where else?) and sponsored by the Downtown Action Team. I was so inspired, and so very grateful, to get reconnected with some of the Guerrilla Marketing strategies that WORK, and learn more. I discovered the Guerrilla Marketing books many many years ago, and they have helped me in my massage practice, as… Continue

Wanna Trade?

I've had a lot of success (and made a lot of friendships) with bartering services and items over the years. Being new to Albuquerque, and re-starting my therapeutic massage practice here, I'm curious - is there a DCF community for the purpose of connecting to trade? If not, is there enough interest in creating one? This could be an awesome, active, vibrant thing to do. I have done some casual, creative bartering since I've been here, and I've also joined a fee-based barter clearinghouse, plus… Continue

Melt With You

Melt With You I'm rocking out to the Eighties videos on VH1 Classic. This is a great way for me to begin my morning. I am totally and truly an 80s girl - I graduated high school at 16 in 1980 - and although I felt like I was robbed of the 60s - I did thoroughly enjoy live music in the 80s. I saw U2 on their first US tour. I saw the Pretenders on their first US tour. I saw Big Country on their first US tour. I saw the first US tour of the Police. (with XTC opening - one of their few live perfo… Continue

So nice to meet you as well. Leonard Shlain, the author, was working on a book regarding the brain of Leonardo Divinci. I received word that Leonard Shlain had cancelled his speaking tour due to a tumor that developed in his brain. Ironically enough it's located in the same area where Leonardo Divinci developed a stroke. The last e-mail I received said he was going in for treatment. He and his family could use some thoughts of love and healing. Shlain wrote a great book. I hope he's able to complete his Leonardo book as well. Peace

Thanks! I don't know if I have anything to barter worth much but I do a lot of small dog sitting in my home. We could also barter things as well as services, couldn't we or is that another group? I have a friend that has a dental lab & I do pick-ups for her. I've fed dogs & cats, watered, taken in mail. Anything for a buck, chocolate or a friend.

Hey Karla!
Your comment on my (first ever) blog caught my eye. I worked as a massage therapist in ABQ for 10 years, and taught at a small school. Arthritis has curtailed that stuff, as well as a case of burnout, but I still think it was one of the best things I ever did.

If my sweet young thing and I are still as mutually besotted after we see each other on New Years, we'll make sure to give a carefully edited review on DCF. ;-)
