Profile Information

Where I Live:
Fringecrest | SE Heights
About Me:
I love Albuquerque's long history and rough edges -- the chaos, the culture, the hole-in-the-wall eateries. I also love supposedly "bad" neighborhoods and anything off the menu that people call "strange."

In early 2005, I created Duke City Fix.

In real life, I'm a web architect and strategist. I help build teams and create strategy for large scale websites such as Bioneers and the City of Albuquerque. Duke City Fix is what I do "for fun" as an obsessive sort of hobby.
Favorite Thing(s) About Albuquerque:
Alleyway murals, Talin internation market, State Fair, Sandia mountains, Day of the Dead parade

In a Relationship

In case of scurvy, eat your cactus

In times of drought and depression, my money's on the prickly pear cactus. All over Albuquerque right now, vitamin C laden cactus fruit are ripening to a deep eggplant purple. They're called "tuna" or "cactus apple" and they taste like blackberry and melon which, when cooked up with… Continue

The Monsoon Gardener's Obscene Booty

Apparently, Albuquerque's ripe. Really ripe. A suggestive local gardener dropped off 2 English cucumbers yesterday and I'm verily agog over the most appropriate way of dealing with these brutes. As you can see (modeled so innocently by my sister Shell), they're a handful. B… Continue

Apricot overload in the 'hood

Picking Apricots It's apricot season in Albuquerque. Whether it's you, your neighbor, or your friend, chances are there's an apricot tree in your life laden with overripe fruit this week. Now. I've tried (and failed) at plenty of canning endeavors. This is… Continue

Put your poetry on Albuquerque buses (and win a laptop while you're at it)

I love poetry. And I love public transportation. The two are forming a happy union this summer as part of ABQ RIDE's "Poetry on the Bus" program, so the long-time local poet Mikaela Renz-Whitmore and I h… Continue

10 minutes in a Nob Hill parking lot

hey lady

check out the new video we produced at the center for civic policy. This video is our effort to thank the leaders who stood up and demanded the right to be counted. No matter what party you identify with, no matter what candidates you support, we urge all New Mexicans to register, vote and pay tribute to those leaders who came before us. There’s an old saying, and it rings true. We stand on the shoulders of giants. Let’s make them proud by taking a stand and voting this year!

check it out:
