Celebrate Slam! New Book Reception @ Harwood Sunday, 11:30 am - 1 p.m.

Remember how excited you all were about the National Poetry Slam 2005? Remember how proud we were that our team won? Remember back even farther than that -- remember the folks who started i… Continue

Band Together and Ride the Bus for Less!

I don't know why the City doesn't push this more (okay, yes I do), but it's a little-known fact that ABQ Ride offers a Business Partnership program to get reduced-cost monthly bus passes. The program sounds fancy-schmancy. What it boils down to is that if you and a few other (8+?) pe… Continue

Pining for Poetry on the Bus

If any of you ever rode the bus in Seattle, you know that one of that city's gems is its program to put poetry on the bus. Every year, a non-profit, in coordination with the City, announces a themed poetry competition, with a tight word limit. They work hard to get poets of all… Continue

Porque, Burque: Knowing Why You Sneeze

Loving the City's Pollen Page, with daily pollen counts for the East and West sides. Much better than a bloody scratch test! This season, Eric and I have thought we were getting sick at least a dozen times, only to realize days later when sick never "blossomed" that it was just allergies. Never again! Today for example? Mulberry and Ash. Damn them by name!

HELLO THERE!!! I had a long thing written and then remembered it would be public, so I'll make it shorter! :) So great to here from you. My hubby graduated last year and that's how I found you (Mirage article) and told Regan. I can't believe you've been this close. Last I knew you were out of state.

I'm doing great. I graduated in 96 with Psych and Spanish, did social work for 5 years, accounting for 2, had a baby right when hubby went back to school, so I did taxes for the last 4 years from home. I have another kiddo now, 2 boys, and stay home.

So great to hear from you after all this time! How are YOU doing? :)

Hi Mikaela,

I share Ben's confusion - I'm going with commenting on your page. :-)

I remember hanging out in what was then the General Honors center on the first floor of Humanities. It was a great location: I was sad to find it had moved when I started working at UNM.

As for me, I'm doing well. Working as a web designer for a number of years. Have an abandoned web log which had the dubious distinction of hosting an entry which was the number one hit for "my bad" (with or without quotes) on Google. Into photography. In fact, fitting my theory that in New Mexico there are only 2 degrees of separation, I took a picture of Ben Roberts taking a picture of someone else at a flickr meetup.

Maybe this whole virtual community thing really is all its cracked up to be after all? I still haven't figured out if one is supposed to repsond to comments on one's own page or the commenters. So I'm sorta doing both. :) Looks like you're doing well?

My lips are sealed so long as you don't talk about my spandex addiction.

Ooh, got me too. I hate "gotcha!"
