Sex and the Olympic city

I've been watching a pretty good deal of the Olympic games, in spite of NBC's pathetic coverage. Why can't the US networks get it right? Anyway I suppose one has to figure that with all these young, fit athletes, from all parts of the world milling about, something has to be going on at Olympic village after dark - wonder no more :) Here's an article by Matthew Syed, a former Olympian, over at the http://www.timesonline.co.uk: "I am often asked if t… Continue

SpareTires - A New Source of Biofuel?

OK - how many of you saw this coming? From the San Francisco Chronicle: "Miami's Jackson Memorial Hospital reportedly has signed a deal to supply Norwegian entrepreneur Lauri Venoy with 3,000 gallons-per-week of liposuction leftovers harvested by its clinics. This bio-fat could produce 2,600 gallons of biodiesel, sufficient to fuel a Hummer for a year." http://www.sf… Continue

Arithmetic, Population, and Energy...

Boy, this is sobering... Albert Bartlett, “Arithmetic, Population and Energy”, aka “consequences of the exponential function”. If you have the time to view these, it would be well worth it. http://www.newsnet7.com/view/103/the-most-important-video-youll-ever-see-1-1/ I don't think I've come across a better presentation of what, exactly, we are fac… Continue

Yeah, I might attend too. But if I smell weed and hear "Free Bird", I'm Outta there.

Hope you have good conditions in Silver City! Merrilou and I are planning to get up at 3 AM Tues morning and head out to the far NW corner of Rio Rancho to watch. Not the best spot but it's somewhat convenient.

I noticed that you're with NM Stargazers. Merrilou and I found a great place to stargaze but it's a bit far. We were coming back from Phoenix along US-60 at about 11:30 one night and we pulled off at the rest stop just west of Quemado to take some star pics. I glanced up and my first thought was that it was overcast but when I put on my glasses it wasn't clouds I was seeing but the milky way! It was so bright and thick! Do you know of anywhere closer where the viewing is as good?

Got a chance to drool over your Ducati on Saturday for a few seconds at the last break. Nice bike! Merrilou likes it too.

Yes, it will be great to finally meet you too! I think this ride will be a great practice run as BF and I are going to Sturgis on the 5th. And we plan on signing up for some big rides there...
