Keeping the Magic Alive

Saturday night in Alamogordo, New Mexico. It’s 7:15 PM and the house at the Flickinger Center is filling up. It’s not a movie, a rock concert or a stand-up comedian. The Spencers are in town and people are coming from White Sands, Las Cruces and Cloudcroft to see a magic show. It’s a field that The Spencers have almost to themselves these days. David Copperfield occasionally takes his gig on the road, but most of the better known magic acts, Penn & Teller, Lance Burton, Mac King have semi-p… Continue

Listening To Scott Owens

I admit it. I’ve never gotten over my love for radio. Even as the art of terrestrial broadcasting recedes into anachronism, I’m still attracted to a well executed Top-40 format. There are few who can do it the way I remember, with personality that doesn’t offend, contagious exuberance, and a presentation that seamlessly blends each element in a symphony that touches your very soul. I grew up listening to rock radio in the Detroit area, and as I’ve written ad nauseam in this space, my dream radi… Continue

Things I love about Albuquerque

Being a Midwesterner by birth and having lived in many a town and city across the country, I've found special things to love about every place we've called home. Now that Colleen and I have been Duke City Folk for a little over a year, here are some of the things we think make ABQ special. The Mountains - Waking to a Sandia tableau every morning reminds us that we're a couple of steps closer to heaven. Riding the tram, viewing the skyline and breathing the alpine air from the crest is a religio… Continue

Twitter Essentials

From www.scottwesterman.com Twitter, the microblog, “what are you doing” application, is achieving critical mass. How do I know? Some of my late-adopter friends are showing up there and quietly starting to follow my Tweets. I’m nowhere near an A-List personality, so if people are getting down the food chain enough to be interested in my stuff, Twitter must be in prime time. What are the essential things to follow on Twitt… Continue

Howdy Scott,
I have tried several times to apply for a comcastic job through the website. It is impossible to get beyond a certain point. The apply button to be exact. I'm serious about wanting/needing a job. Can I apply online or should I just go down there? I have a friend who has had the same problem so I don't think it is just me.

thanks!

rofl I liked the Cloverfield thing but I can't believe they didn't get in trouble with the Indiana Jones episode! I was shocked!

Hey, Scott! I was just wondering what may be going on with the network... My family and a few others have reported that they are unable to access any of the digital cable channels though they are able to access all of the On-Demand content. It's been happening all week and everyone came to me saying something to the effect of, "Ask that guy you talked to at Comcast about what's going on!" We've been trying to call Customer Service but after we get through the menu, we get the prompt of "Your call is important to us..." yadda yadda but then it disconnects for whatever reason and we have to call back. If it was just us I would say that it's some sort of black hole effect but a few others have said the same thing...all of the basic cable stuff is coming through, though.

On a good note, though, I see your new South Park avatar...did you see the one with the Guineasaurus Rex? lol

No sweat. I actually had a great experience with the inital Digital Voice install team, even though I was a "beta tester" very early on, and they admittedly didn't really know what they were doing. That was another experience that went very well, with attentive customer service provided.

rofl yeah, it was cool. You sound different on TV, though, I was kinda surprised. I definitely liked it better than those turtle commercials, though; some of those are...odd.
